So here's a story for ya!
So I'm sitting in our kitchen/break room at work eating lunch with my co-workers and my phone lights up with a notification from Facebook. (I swear I turn those off on a daily basis but clearly I'm not doing it right). The notification said "Nancy Morrow wrote on your wall." Well for those of you who aren't familiar with my extended family, Nancy Morrow is my great aunt (I think). She lives in East Tennessee with the rest of my family. She's older, so that fact that she is on Facebook is weird enough to me, not to mention the fact that she's writing on my wall. I immediately went to the Facebook app to check it out.
"Jess, are you getting married? October 29? To whom? Really?...I love you."
Ummmm...excuse me? I'm not even dating anyone, so a wedding in October seems highly unlikely.
So now I'm having to do damage control because some family members got their feelings hurt becuase they weren't invited to the wedding. THERE IS NO WEDDING!
So that's what I've been dealing with today. FML.
There this much drama going on without there even being a real wedding, can you imagine what it will be like when I do (God willing) finally get married? My goodness.
In other news, it's Thursday! SOOOO pumped for the weekend. I'm going to Fayetteville to go floating, so I should have some interesting stories from that.
Cheers to the weekend!

Obsessed.
So since the Bar Convention was yesterday and today, work has been pretty chill. Loving it. But that also means that I have ample time to do some on-line shopping (my fav). I've also stumbled upon lookbook. Obsessed.
Here are some things that I've decided I can live without...

(I've GOT to get some white skinnies. So cute.)

(Love this whole look. Especially the scarf.)

(This one my be my fav. I LOVE this blazer and skirt together. And the bag? Yes please.)

(I need these black shoes. Really bad.)

(First off, I want my hair this long. Love this leather jacket with the feminine skirt.)
Okay, I won't bore you with any more. I just found this site and now I'm obsessed.
So, cheers for my first fashion post! Happy Friday!

When it rains, it pours...
Two big things are waying on my mind right now...

#1- You know those friendships where it seems like you are pretty much there to do the other person a "favor" all the time? Like the only reason they are friends with you is because they know they can get you to help them when they need something? The conversation is all about them and their problems and what you can do to help them. I'm kind of comepletely over those friendships. I'm not saying that I'm not more than willing to help a friend out, but you know what I mean. I'm not pointing fingers or saying that I have specific friends who do this (we all do this from time to time, let's be honest), but I just think we are getting too old to be friends with people who aren't in it for the right reasons. I've just been evaluating relationships lately and it's made me think.
#2- I'm about to be making some pretty life changing decisions in the next couple of months and I'm trying my very best to lean on God every step of the way. I am doing my best to listen to what He is saying. I've looked back on some decisions I've made in the past and it is very clear that God was trying to tell me (more like yelling and screaming but I was too oblivious or head-strong to see it) to not do it. I want so bad to make the right decision based on His will, so I'm taking a different approach this time. I'll fill you in on more details as they come.
Anywho, thats what has been flowing through my head that past couple of days. On a happy note, my sweet little cousin will be here tonight all the way from East Tennessee and I could NOT be more excited to see her.

Oh and I am doing my best to post more pictures on here. I just realized that it bothers me when people don't include pics, and then I realized "Holy cow, I don't even post pictures very often." So here's to a new weekend, and more pictures!

TGIF!
Well folks, we made it. It's FINALLY Friday. And it's a three day weekend! Hallelujah.
I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would give you a peak inside my brain this morning. No promises this will be relevant to anything, or even make sense for that matter.
1. It's Friday, which means it's doughnut day at work. I just don't have the energy to fight off the intense urge to eat one. So I've already had two. Go figure.
2. I'm still wigging out that everyone is having babies. And I do mean everyone. Pretty sure there is something in the water here, so watch out.
3. My parents told me last night that there is a chance they will be moving to Nashville, TN. When they told me, I felt like I was a kid again and they told me they were going out of town without me. It was that same "Don't leave me" feeling which sucked. I realize I'm 24 years old, but I still need my mom and dad regularly, even if it's just for them to tell me everything will be okay. And then the topic of me moving there too came up, which made me nervous. I guess we'll see what happens!
4. I saw this quote the other day that said "We get more done through prayer than worry." I'm going to start living my life like this. Worrying is pointless
5. I'm still toying with the idea of a tattoo.
6. IT'S SUMMER TIME!!!! Love, love, love. I'm really hoping to have a bunch of lake adventures this summer since I failed pretty miserably at that last summer.
7. I've been reading a lot about the tornado in Joplin, and I read about the fanatical church that is protesting at funerals saying that those people deserved to die. They do it at funerals of fallen soldiers as well. It completely baffles me that people can claim to be Christians and act like that. Christians are supposed to strive to live their lives like Jesus did and I can guarentee you Jesus wouldn't even think of doing something that horrendous. I also heard of a "gang" of bikers who travel around the country going to these funerals and forming baracades around the funerals. If the protesters start to yell or make a disturbance or anything, the bikers just reve their engines so that it drowns them out and the families can't hear them. I would love to see that. It's so ironic that the big bad biker men are the ones who are being the Christ-like ones and trying to protect people and the "church-goers" are doing the harm. Makes ya think.
8. On a completely unrelated thought, I am completely and totally, 100% addicted to on-line shopping right now. It's getting to be an issue. I found this website called asos.com and it changed my life. Cutest. stuff. ever. And most of it is reasonably priced. Completely in love. Check it out.
Okay I'll stop there. But there's more where that came from! :) Hope y'all have a fabulous and SAFE holiday weekend! Go America!

Babies!!!
Okay so last summer, my life revolved around weddings. I was always going to showers, weddings, being in weddings, etc. It was fun because I got to see my friends that I didn't get to see very often.
But this summer is different because now everything revolves around...
BABIES!!!
Now everyone is getting pregnant! How crazy is that?! I have three good friends right now that are preggers and I know quite a few others who are expecting as well. I can't even believe it.
The whole wedding thing was weird enough, but I got over it. This step, however, is completely blowing me away. I love it because it's so exciting that my friends are bringing little mini-me's of themselves into the world and that's fun to think about. It blows my mind that the ones that were taking Safe-Ride home from Dickson with me about 2 years ago are going to be MOMS!!! Completely insane to think about.
I'm SUPER PUMPED about baby showers and getting to buy baby clothes though. I've been blowing Etsy up lately with ideas of gifts. I also have some way cool friends who are letting me help with the nurseries (since I'm living vicariously through them right now) which I squeal just thinking about. So fun!!!
I'm happy the wedding phase is wrapping up. I love weddings, but it's nice to be able to start going to baby showers instead of wedding showers. It's a nice change.
Plus, it's babies! I can't wait to hold those little angels. I'm going to be the best Aunt JHo ever. I'm open to different name options, though. I can understand my friends not wanting the word "ho" to be coming out of their child's mouth at such a young age. Maybe Aunt J? Aunt Jessica is just boring. I want something sassy. I don't know, I'll work on.
Happy Wednesday!

Open mouth. Insert Foot.
So here's a little glimpse into my morning...
So things started out on a good foot. I actually woke up on time and even had time to enjoy my breakfast while watching the morning news. I had plenty of time to get ready and traffic wasn't even bad. Great start, right?
Well I got to work early and decided to stop in for some coffee. I ordered and then moved aside to let the lady behind me order. She ordered two bagels and then mumbled something. The cashier didn't hear her and so she repeated herself. I SWEAR she said, "I'm eating for two." So, me being nosey, I ask her when she's due.
....to which she responded, "No, I said I'm ordering for two... I'm not pregnant."....
Awesome.
So I apologized profusely and said, "Well I was wondering because you don't look pregnant at all!" She was nice about it, but nobody ever wants to be mistaken for being pregnant when you aren't. I probably would have cried. I felt/still feel HORRIBLE!!!
Okay, so then I took the elevator to the 38th floor and made my way to my desk. As soon as I sat down, my phone rang (hate it when that happens). I answered and it was the court reporter I had been psycho calling the day before. The voice said, "Hello! I'm from 'so and so' court reporting and..." Well I cut the them off because I was so pumped that they had called me back! I left a message (or 17) for a man named Steve. So I thanked him so much for calling me back and began giving him the details of what we were needing, times, dates, etc. I kept saying, "Again, thank you, sir, for getting back with me. I know a man like you is very busy!" Every time I said that, there would be no response (okay, rude). We ended the conversation with, "Ma'am, my name is Jan. I'm a woman."
...Of course you are. I bet you're friends with the "pregnant" lady at the coffee place too...
FML.
For the second time in less than an hour, I began apologizing profusely. I explained to her that since I left messages for Steve I just assumed he would be the one to call me back. (And she did have a somewhat manly voice, but I left that part out). So I apologized to Jan again and thanked her for everything.
Yep, so I'm on a roll today. Let's see who else I can offend.

Green is not my color...
Sooooo I've had quite the week...
It started on Sunday. If you're my friend on facebook, which I hope you are, I'm sure you saw my status about how I turned my hair green. Well here's the whole story.
So I was having a nice, relaxing, rainy Sunday. I just laid around, watched Lifetime movies, and just took up space until around 2. It. Was. Fantastic. I haven't done that in forever. And I got to catch up on some pretty awesome Lifetime movies (although I'm starting to think they are causing me to not trust any man ever, but that's for another day.)
Well I decided to do a little online shopping (since, afterall, that didn't involve much movement) and I went through my usual online browsing routine. I went to Private Gallery's website first. And then to JCrew. And then on to Victoria Secret. That's where my day took a turn.
I started thinking about swim suit season and it kind of made me sick to my stomach. I'm SOOO not ready for bathing suit season. Like at all. I've been running and stuff, but I'm still nowhere near being able to be comfortable in a swimsuit. Woof. So in a state of panic, I decided to go to the gym.
I put my workout clothes on and realized I couldn't find the headband I always wear. I'm a sweater (as in I sweat a lot, not like the article of clothing) so my hair always ends up plastered to my face. Not cute. So I always wear this one specific tan headband.
Well it is nowhere to be found (I'm convinced there are little gremlins in my apartment that think it's really fun to hide stuff from me because things disappear frequently) so I looked at my other headbands to try to find something that would work.
I found this green headband that I had never worn before. I don't really wear green (as in, I NEVER wear green) so what possessed me to buy a green hair accessory I may never know. I decided that this would be my new workout headband. Done and Done.
So I went and ran at the gym since it has been and continues to monsoon out. It was particularly humid in the gym that day, probably because of the rain and then sweaty people in the building. I finished up, went home, cooked dinner, and then went to take a shower.
I turned the water on and went to wash my face. I took the headband off just to make sure I didn't jump in the shower with it (which wouldn't have mattered because it was completely soaked with sweat, anyway. Gross, I know.) So I washed my face and grabbed the towel to dry off. I looked in the mirror to see if I still had eyemakeup under my eyes only to find....
A perfect green line around my head.
Like it was so perfect and so green, I thought the headband was still on. I immediately screamed and jumped in the shower to scrub my hair. I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. I jumped out of the shower to see if the scrubbing worked, but it didn't. So I got back in and scrubbed until my head was sore.
When I got back out of the shower, it was still there. So I decided that shampoo obviously wasn't going to do the trick.
So, of course, I did what I always do when I have a problem. I called my mom.
I told her the story, and once she caught her breath from laughing (Cool, mom, thanks) she asked if I tried washing it. Duh, mom. You didn't raise no fool. So we started thinking of other options. But, because my hair is colored, I was too scared to try anything on it because I was scared it would turn my whole head a different color! Or make my hair fall out completely! Some girls can pull of the no hair look. Even though I've never tried it, I can 100% guarentee you I would not be one of the girls.
So it's now Tuesday and I still have green in my hair. It has faded but it's still very much visible. So I will be sporting headbands (not the green one, obviously) all week. I just pray it comes out soon.
That was just the beginning of me week. I try to update you on the rest of it soon.
And I'll let you know the status of my reality show that really needs to happen. FML.

Come ooonnnnn Summer!!!
What's a girl gotta do around here to get some lake weather?! I've waited long enough!
I want warm, sunny weather pronto. And a boat. And a six-pack (referring to both abs and beverages).
Pretty sure I've been patient long enough. It's time.

On a side note, I went to my running clinic again yesterday and we ran 7 minutes and walked 3. That means I did about 4 miles, running 3 and walked 1. Not bad for a beginner! Pretty proud of myself. And I don't hate it anymore, which is also a huge accomplishment.
Okay, I think that's all I've got right now. Happy Tuesday!

Poor Gina...
So lately I've been having a lot of problems with Gina. {Just in case anybody doesn't know, Gina is my Jeep. She has been with me since my sophomore year of college and I talk about her like she's a person. That may be weird, but whatever.} We spent over $1000 on her in a month last month and that is just unacceptable. She was in the shop 3 times, and every time I would go pick her back up the check-engine light would come back on within 24 hours. {We even checked to see if there was short in the check-engine light, hoping that little light didn't mean something was really wrong every time. The light was fine.}
She has almost 99,000 miles on her so I guess it's time for her to start slowing down. She has been such a good car until 97,000 hit. That's when she start going downhill. Poor thing.
But, there's comes a point when you have to let go. She's been fabulous, but she's causing so many problems right now. So, I'm on the search for a new car.
This week I've narrowed it down to two...
I've always loved 4Runners. Especially the newer ones. And I have loved having an SUV these past years. This is pretty much the exact one I had in my head.

I've also been looking into the new Honda Accords. They are SO nice inside, and they look sleek and classy on the outside.

So those are what I'm trying to decide between. They are both nice, but very different. Whatever one I pick, it's going to be white with tan interior.
I just love this process! So exciting!
Happy Hump Day!

Story of my life...
So if I had to give someone a snapshot of my daily life, I would tell them this story...
So I've gone to the same hair lady for about 4 years now. She's wonderful. She always gets me in when I need her to and she always (well almost always) makes my hair look exactly like I want it. She really knows what she is doing. Love, love, love her.
Buuuutttt, my mom's friend's partner (sorry, that's confusing) is a hair dresser in Conway. He used to work on the set of "What Not to Wear"! He used to do Stacey and Clinton's hair! How cool is that?! He's so funny. He's an extremely flamboyant gay guy. Like the first time I met him he was dancing around singing Aretha Franklin. So fun. So my mom and I have decided to try him out.
I started to feel super guilty though. I felt like I was cheating on my hair lady. I felt like I should send her a text saying, "It's not you, it's me." That kind of feeling.
But I decided that I was just give this new guy a chance and my mom called Wednesday night and got us an appointment for Saturday. I also went to get sushi with my mom on Wednesday night.
Guess who we ran into... My freaking hair lady!!!!
Are ya kiddin' me?! So awkward!
AND apparently I had an appointment scheduled with her this weekend! What are the odds of that?! Seriously?! I stammered around trying to come up with an excuse of why I couldn't be there this Saturday. She probably thinks I've developed a stutter. I didn't recover well.
I just know God was sitting up there just chuckling away. There's no way He doesnt' get a kick out of my life. This kind of stuff ALWAYS happens to me. FML.
Seriously, reality show anyone?

Tatted up.
Soooooo I'm thinking about getting a tattoo. A sleeve actually. Ya know, my whole arm done.
JUST KIDDING!!!
But I'm for real thinking about getting some ink (I don't think I'm cool enough to say 'getting some ink.' Yep, just decided. Not cool enough.)
I've been thinking a lot about what I should get. I want to get something meaningful and small of course. I don't really want it to show. I'm not really the kind of girl who could pull of tattoos, so this needs to be a discrete one.
I've been racking my brain about what it should be, and I keep coming back to this lyric from "My Kind of Crazy":
"God shook his head the day He built her, but I bet He smiled."
I just love that. I get it stuck in my head all of the time and it just makes me happy.
I hate making mistakes. I'm definitely a people-pleaser. A lot of my anxiety and stress comes from me being so scared I'm going to disappoint someone.
This little lyric makes me think that God knows the mistakes I'm going to make and that I've already made, and that it's okay to mess up. It makes us who we are. I'm going to make mistakes, and sometimes they are going to be big ones. But God made me the way I am for a reason. And even though I want to just slap myself for some of the stupid things I've done (and I'm sure God has a few choice words for me too sometimes), everything happens for a reason. He made me with my imperfections and I just need to go with it. They serve a purpose somewhere down the road.
So I'm thinking about getting that somewhere around my hip to wear even a swimsuit would cover it. We'll see. I keep tossing it around in my head, so we'll see if it ever actually happens.
Happy Thursday!

Delicious Yummies...
So I started my new job last week. Things are good. A little stressful because I'm in over my head, but the people are super nice and I love working downtown. I feel like such a grown-up (but trust me, I'm only playing the part).
Here is my biggest issue right now with this company...
On Fridays, they ALWAYS, and I repeat, ALWAYS have doughnuts. I guess it's supposed to be a "Hey! You survived the week!" present, but to me it's torture.
I'm trying so hard to be healthier and lose weight and work out/run at least 5 times a week. I'm really trying to watch calories. And, since I'm new to this job, I'm stressed a lot, so Fridays are like a light at the end of the tunnel. I obviously look forward to them.
But, I dread trying to stop myself from grabbing one of those heavenly little pastries...
At first, I just told myself that I would avoid the kitchen at all costs until after lunch (because who eats doughnuts in the afternoon? Plus after lunch maybe I wouldn't be hungry). Seems like a fool proof plan right? I had found my solution.
Until I realized I have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom...
DAAAAAAAAAANG IT!!!
Everyone knows that I have a bladder the size of a two year old's AND I've been drinking tea in the mornings for a little pick-me-up. Let me tell ya, that is a deadly combination.
As I'm typing this it is 11:18 a.m. and I have already made 4 bathroom trips and counting. That means I have passed those little calorie filled goodies 8 times at least. FML.
I'm mentally and physically exhausted on Fridays, so trying to force myself to "step away from the doughnuts" is ridiculously challenging. I keep hoping they will have all been eaten by my next bathroom trip (which I probably have about another 15 min before my bladder starts screaming) so we'll see.
But I guess if this is my most challenging situation today, I'm doing pretty good.

Bring. It. On.
Ya know when you have that feeling like you're ready for an adventure or a new start or something? That's where I am right now.
I'm about to start a new job on Wednesday, which is both super exciting and super terrifying. I always think that I'll be in way over my head when I start at a new company. But, just like I did with my job right now, I fake it until I make it. I just tried to keep my head above water until I learned how to do things.
Anyway, I'm pretty excited about a new chapter of my career starting, and I love the feeling that I can take on anything right now. Like, I just can't wait to see what God has in store for me next.
Sometimes I find myself feeling like if one more things goes wrong or doesn't work out, I'm going to lose it. And I pity the fool who is around me when that happens. But not today. I feel strong and alert and ready for anything. I'm not trying to plan my life out like I usually do (ya know, the whole planning thing has worked so well in the past. HA!) so I'm just going with the flow.
AND I'M LOVING IT! Life is good today.

Ramblings...
So I'm over the "30 Days of Pictures." I may pick it back up later, but for right now I'm bored with it. (Note: I realize I didn't even make it half way through. So sue me.)
I've been having the worst time sleeping lately and it's getting REALLY old. I'm not one of those people who can survive on minimal amounts of sleep. I need some shut-eye. Always have, always will.
But here's the kicker. My mom and my grandmother have serious sleep issues. So, I basically don't have a shot at normal sleep habits. The reason I'm saying this (well, complaining would probably be a better word) is because when I wake up at all hours of the night, I have some pretty interesting thoughts.
Here's a sample of what runs through my head at night:
1. Where's my phone? (I always fall asleep with it and then I move around a lot in my sleep. So my first task is to locate it in the mass abyss I call my covers to see what time it is.)
2. It's only 2:15. The Home Improvement marathon doesn't come on for another 45 min. (I've memorized the late night show schedule. Between 2 and 3 is the worst time because it is when the real shows are going off and the informercials are starting. There's a Home Improvement marathon and a Married with Children Marathon on every night starting at 3 and lasting until 5 or 6. I know you can rest better at night knowing that.)
3. I wonder if my neighbors would get mad if I started a load of laundry? (So now I start thinking of productive ways to spend my time. Clearly sleeping isn't going to happen. I live in an apartment building with unusually thin walls, which makes things like running the dishwasher and washing machine somewhat time-sensitive since I would rather my neighbors not hate me.)
4. I wonder if I could get away with not showering this morning? Maybe my hair will cooperate. (Kinda gross, I know. But when you are only sleeping 4 hours a night, when you finally go to sleep you want to stay that way for as long as possible).
(This is usually the time I start worrying about things.)
5. Man, when I start my new job on Wednesday, I'm going to have to wake up A LOT earlier. I actually have to wear grown-up clothes so that will make getting ready take a lot longer, which means I'll have to get up at 6:30. And I have to go all the way downtown. With traffic and everything, it will take another 30 minutes. SO that means I'll be getting up at 6! And if I had to do that this morning, even if I was able to fall asleep by 3 then I would only get 3 hours of sleep! And then I'll have to go in to work sleepy and tired, and then I won't get my work done, and then my boss will fire me, and then I won't have a job, and then I won't be able to pay my rent, and then...Oh my gosh, I'm homeless. (I get myself worked up into this worry frenzy that delays the falling back asleep process even more).
6. Well if I lose my job, I saw on the internet that Charlie Sheen is hiring an intern for his social media stuff. I could do that. And working for Charlie Sheen? I mean, at least work would always be interesting. Maybe I'll apply for that just in case. (Clearly being rational is out the door at 2:30 in the morning.)
7. I wonder if Charlie is seeing a psychologist? He would be a psychologist's dream. So many things to explore! I wonder what his childhood was like. People just don't realize how much their childhood affects their entire lives. (And then I get all philosophical).
8. I hope I'm a good mom one day. Actually, I hope I get to be a mom, period. I think having a child would be the hardest/most rewarding experience ever. My kids will be the coolest kids around. Or else. Just kidding. (And then I start thinking about the future.)
(And this is the point where I usually turn to my phone for entertainment because thinking about the future freaks me out.)
9. I haven't check Texts From Last Night in a while. I mean, I just don't think some of these are for real. Well...
10. Oh good, Home Improvements on...ZZZZZZZZZZZ (I swear, I don't know what it is about that show but it knocks me right out.)
So this is a nightly ritual. The thoughts vary some, but they follow the same pattern. So if anyone is ever awake between 2 and 3, feel free to call. I'd love to chat. Well, at least until Home Improvement comes on. :)

Day #12- A Picture of Something You Love

I LOVE THE LAKE!
With my whole heart. I am most at peace when I am on the lake. I love everything that is involved in a lake trip. Sun, water, wind in my hair, wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, friends. It just doesn't get any better.
I can truly say that I have never turned down a lake trip. As soon as I have a family and can afford it, I'm buying a ski boat and then later on a lakehouse. I want my kids to grow up on the lake and hopefully they will love it as much as I do. Oh, and my husband better too or things just won't work out. Definitely a deal breaker :)
God's Perfect Timing
Okay, before I do my "30 Days of Pictures" post, I just wanted to share this:
So, like I said in a previous post, the attorney I work for right now is moving to Fayetteville in May. That means I would be out of a job in May. Given my previous job search experience, this was a terrifying piece of news.
I had just moved out of my friend Kelly's house into an apartment of my own, which meant I had a major financial responsibility without guarentee of a job. Again, terrifying.
I started to get seriously stressed out, but my mom kept telling me that everything will work out in its own time (meaning God's time). At first, this was no help to me. I wanted her to tell me what I needed to be doing in order to make sure I was employed by the time Shelly moved. I wanted her to give me steps I could be taking. Just waiting was not at all an option I wanted to hear.
So, of course, being as hard-headed as I am, I decided to be pro-active and get on every job website possible and apply for every job I thought I was qualified for. (Not going to lie, it did make me feel better.) But, I never heard anything from those companies. Not a peep. So, I was back to square one.
I then decided I was going to make everyone I know aware of the fact that I need a job so that they could keep their ears open. I did that, and then nothing happened. I'm not sure if I thought that if I was actively seeking a job then it would just land in my lap. Nope, not the case.
Now, looking back on it, I think God was telling me, "Listen, sister, I have a plan for you. No matter how hard you try, you can't make something happen that's not supposed to happen. Be still and know that I am taking care of it." And that's exactly what He did.
I got a call from my friend Griff (Bryan Griffith) about a position that became available at the law firm he works for. I figured I wouldn't have enough experience for them to want me, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to send in my resume. The woman in charge of hiring ended up being the mom of a guy I went to highschool with. One thing led to another and...I GOT THE JOB!!!
I got a call Friday to come in Monday to chat with them and Tuesday (today) I gave my two weeks notice!
This is just another instance of God and His perfect timing. No matter how much effort and work I put into it, if it wasn't the right time it wasn't going to happen. And I am so thankful for that.
I'm somewhat of a control freak, so for me to be on someone else's time is a lot for me to handle. I love that God know this about me (heck, He made me this way!) and knows that I have to be reminded. A Lot.
There has been so many times were I get completely overwhelmed. Life throws a lot at us and if you let it it will completely take you over. I love that God shows me on an every day basis that He is there to love, protect and care for us. He loves us more than any human being could and to know that He is ultimately in charge is such a comfort to me.
Now, I have a wonderful job and I can stop worrying if I am going to be able to pay my rent come May. He showed me that He is in control and knowing that puts my worrying mind to ease. I couldn't be more thankful for everything He does in my life.

Day #11- A picture of something you hate
I. Hate. Geese.
When I have to say something I'm terrified of or hate, I usually just say birds in general. The more I think about it though, that's not really fair. I don't hate those small, pretty birds. Those are nice to look at.
I've decided the main target of my hatred is geese. They scare the living daylights out of me. They are so big, first off. When I was little, I had one chase me into my great aunt's house. We all know I'm vertically challenged and I've been like that my whole life. So when I was younger, I was shorter than the average kid. I'm saying this because that would mean that the goose was about my height! Try have a bird as tall as you chase after you, sqwuaking and everything! Traumatizing, I tell ya!

So now I have flashbacks every time I see them.
And of course, since it's me we're talking about, my office building happens to sit right in front of a pond. And this lovely little pond happens to be the home of a flock of geese. Perfect.
I think I've told this story in a previous post, but I came to work one day and the geese were hanging out in front of the building. I almost peed myself. I had to get in, but there was no way in the world that I was just going to waltz myself through the geese. I ended up driving up on the front curb to try to scare them away. They weren't scared in the slightest, but they eventually moved enough for me to slide my way in.
They also band together and form a line across driveway to get out. That's fun. They just look at you like, "Succcckkkerrrr." I know that's what they are thinking.
Yeah, so I don't really hate things, but I think I am the closest to hate when it comes to those big ole ugly birds. Woof.

Day #10- A picture of the person you do messed up things with
My friends are so fun and ridiculous, this was a hard one. I've narrowed it down to two.
Amanda Hymas and I would always get ourselves in the weirdest situations in college. We always had the craziest stories.

I think this picture sums us up pretty well. I can't even tell you how many times we've said "Only you" to each other. We were always laughing though. I miss her dearly.
My more recent partner in crime is Kristina Godfrey.

Every time we go out together, something weird happens. We have some pretty fun stories. I'm so thankful to have my wild and crazy friends. They make life so much for interesting! :)

Day #9- Picture of a person who has gotten you through the most
I immediately knew who this day would be about.
Mary Webb

She truly is my best friend. We met at Greek weekend the spring before college started. She was a friend from highschool's roommate. Mary is from Colorado and so that chances of me meeting her weren't very high that weekend. But, fate led us to each other. I remember her telling a story about driving down to Arkansas the day before and seeing a tornado. Like, looking out of her car window and there was a tornado. I was immediately intrigued. After Greek weekend, we went our separate ways.
We met again during Rush. She hung out with Carrie (my friend from highschool) since they were roommates so I got to know her better then.
And then the stars aligned and we both pledged Kappa. We were besties immediately. The only person that I really knew in our pledge class was Rachael Smith, but she was always off doing pom stuff. So, I clung to Mary. Best decision ever.
We decided to room together sophomore year and we ended up living together for three years. She quickly became my best friend and "my person." I went to her for everything. I told her everything. She was the voice of reason in a lot of situations I was in. I really don't think I would have made it out of college a sane person without her. Most all of my very best college memories involve her.
It's so nice to have someone who is always there. Someone you can depend on. That's not easy to find.
She is just one of those people who I know will be in my life forever. And I couldn't ask for a better person to have shared my college experience with. She's such a blessing.

Behind, yet again...
Why am I so bad at this?! Ridiculous...
Day #8- Something that has made a huge impact on your life recently
So I thought about this really hard. I thought about my daily life and who/what impacts it in a big way. I thought about my family, but they've always had a huge impact on my life. Of course, there is God but He also has always had a huge impact on my life. I decided to start thinking on a smaller scale.
And it hit me.
Brace yourself for this one. I would never in a million years ever think that this would be my answer, but here it is.
Running.

My new years resolution was to get in shape. I dropped the whole "lose weight" thing. I think that made the whole thing sound too daunting. However, if I just decided to sweat at least 5 days a week, that left me more options which gave me hope that I may actually enjoy this.
I also decided that I wanted to be able to legitimately call myself a runner. I wanted to be able to go run after a bad day and feel better. I wanted to WANT to run.
So I decided I would ease into it. I found this app on my phone that gets you 'from the couch to a 5k' and decided that what I needed! I started Week 1 and I actually kind of liked it. Who knew? It let me listen to my music on my phone and then would tell me when to run, when to walk, how long I had left, when I was half way done, etc. Loved. It.
So I've been alternating between that and the eliptical. I read somewhere that the eliptical lifts your butt and that's been stuck in my head lately. Gotta love a good butt raise, right?
AND now I'm doing this Women Can Run clinic too. It started Monday and I LOVE it. Some of my bunco friends are doing it too so we get to chat and get fit at the same time! Can't get much better than that!
So needless to say running has taken over my life. In a very good way. My goal is to run a 5k by summer. I mean not run/walk, but run the whole time. And I'm gonna do it! :)

Day #7- Most Treasured Item
My most treasured "item" is my dog, Ellie.

I got her my senior year of college. My friend Rachel wanted to get a cat so I went with her to the Humane Society. I go with her to look at cats and I leave with a dog. Oops?
I couldn't help it though, it was love at first sight. She was just the sweetest little thing. I asked if I could take her to a room and get down and play with her. As soon as she was off that leash, she was in my lap. She was snuggling up against me and wouldn't leave my side. I knew there was no way I was leaving her there.
My mom wasn't too thrilled about the idea of another dog. However, now she claims her as her own. She is completely in love Ellie girl.
I feel like it was fate that she was brought into our family. She is one loved little dog!

Playing Catch-up
Okay so I really wanted to do the 30 days in pictures, but life has been getting in the way the last few days. So, to try to get back on track, I'll just do the days I missed in one post.
Day #4- Picture of my night.
Well this day should have been last Thursday, which was the night of the tornado warnings and thunderstorms.

This was an actual picture that my friend Bryan took from his office building downtown. Crazy, huh?
Day #5- Favorite Memory
This may be the hardest day for me. My college years were filled with favorite memories. My friends are so funny and fun to be around which made from some pretty interesting stories.
The first thing that came to my mind though was Spring Break my senior year. About 9 of us went to Grayton Beach, Florida. We had our own house with it's own pool right across the street from the beach. I think I laughed for an entire week straight.

I think that was the funnest trip I have ever been on. The beach + my favorite people = Best memory of my life.
Day #6- Person I would love to trade places with for one day
I would trade places with Kate Middleton in a heartbeat. I mean, she's livin' the dream. The love of her life is a real live prince. Are ya kiddin' me? Yes please!

Okay I think I'm caught up now. On to today's post!

Day #3- Favortive TV Show Cast
So I have quite a few TV shows so this one was hard. I think I've narrowed it down to two though.
This is my current favorite. This show makes me laugh out loud no matter how many times I've seen the episode. The characters are just so perfect. I just started really watching it over Thanksgiving break. I finished three seasons within about a week and half. Obsessed.
But, I have to say that my all-time favorite show is Friends. I've seen every episode at least three times. I quote lines from this show in a daily basis. Love every minute of it.

Day 2- Someone you have been closest with the longest

This is my mom and I on Mother's Day.
I feel so lucky to say that I have loved and respected my mom my whole life. I never went through the "I hate you, Mom! You just don't understand!" phase. That's not to say that we drove each other crazy sometimes, but I knew that she only wanted what was best for me.
She's my best friend. She's the one I call when I've had a bad day. She's the one I call when something really exciting happens. She's the one I call when I have a crisis. And she's always comes to my rescue whenever I need her.
I just love hanging out with her. My favorite days are Saturdays when we go out shopping together. Even if we don't buy anything, we have fun just looking.
She is truly the most wonderful woman in the world and I pray that I am half the mom to my kids as she is to me. I love her with my whole heart.

30 Days of Pictures- Totally Copying You Rach!
Okay so clearly I haven't blogged in a while. I haven't had a whole lot of time lately AND I've been a little on the boring side. I was reading Rachael Jones' blog and saw her 30 Days of Pictures which is:

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item
Day 08 - A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently
Day 09 - A picture of the person/thing who has gotten you through the most

Day 30 - A picture of someone you miss
So in an attempt to get back in the swing of things, here I go!
DAY #1

1. I hate birds. Mainly geese but all birds make me nervous. I've had a few bad encounters with them as a child (one involving a goose and another involving a seagull) so I've been terrified every since.
2. I think I was a big black woman in a previous life. I was getting my hair done the other day and an Aretha Franklin song came on and something came over me. She just spoke to me. Plus, I can rap (hahahahaha just kidding).
3. I have two huge pet peeves. One is when people drive slow in the left lane. We all took drivers ed. Come on. The second one is when people mess up "you're" and "your" and then "their," "they're" and "there." I understand it's confusing and sometimes people slip up, but that drives me crazy.
4. I have a ton of nicknames. Some of those include Jess, Jessie, Jessie Leigh, Jho, J, Jayonce, J-Hizzle, Colonel Boo, Curls, etc.
5. I am a huge smell person. I could look at something gross all day, but if it smells bad I'm out. Can't handle it.
6. When I was in college, I was the queen of parking tickets. My motto was, "Another day, another parking ticket." Pretty sure I single-handedly paid for the parking deck on Garland. You're welcome, U of A.
7. The lake is my favorite place on the planet. It soothes my soul.
8. Every time I find a perfume I like, the discontinue it. I've finally learned to buy in bulk.
9. I miss college. A lot. The real world isn't that bad, but I just really miss my friends. I'm completely convinced I have the best friends in the world. And the most fun ones.
10. My favorite feeling in the world is when I look at the sky and it's so pretty it takes my breath away. I always say, "Lord, you really out-did yourself on that one. It's stunning." I like to think it's God painting pictures for me. And let me tell ya, He impresses me every time.
Now let's see if I can keep up with this everyday! :)

So many decisions...
Okay, the past few and the upcoming next few month have been/will be full of big decisions for me to make, such as moving into an apartment by myself (which I decided to do), starting a new job (since my law firm will be closed down in June due to my attorney moving), starting my own business (Arbonne! Whoop whoop!), etc.
Well if you know me at all, you know that when I am stressed or overwhelmed I usually pick something that isn't that important and fixate/completely obsess over that one aspect of my life.
Well, this time I have chosen decorating my apartment.
I should be fretting over finding a job to pay for my apartment and building my Arbonne business, but noooo....
Now, I am completely aware that my mother is a ridiculously talented interior decorator and any normal human who has a family member like would be able to put this worry on the backburner and focus on the important stuff. Not this human.
I am completely engulfing myself in figuring out exactly how I want my apartment to look. I want it to adult but not too adult. I want it to be cozy with a little elegance to it. I want it to be fancy but comfortable. But then I also want my personality to show in it. I mean, that's not to much to ask is it?...
In a dream world, I would have enough money to buy everything new from Riffraff. After all, that is the cutest/best store of all time. But, since it's in Fayetteville AND I have little to no money to buy anything (not that Riffraff is expensive at all. It's actually ridiculously well priced.), I may just have to settle for picking up a few decorations from Hobby Lobby and call it a day.
If anybody knows of any blogs or websites that has ideas on how to decorate in an non-expensive way, let me know!!!
Be safe in the snow!

Dates with God
Okay, so for the last couple of nights I have had the WORST trouble sleeping! Like, I go to sleep pretty easily, but I wake up about an hour or two later and can't go back to sleep for the life of me!
I've tried everything to fix it. I've tried watching TV until I fall asleep. I've tried turning the TV off before I go to sleep. I've tried reading before bed. I've tried Tylenol PM. Nothing works.
So last night I went to sleep around 11 and woke up about 1 this morning. I was so frustrated because I was SO tired. There was no reason in the world why I shouldn't be asleep.
Normally, this is when my brain goes into overdrive trying to understand why I'm awake. My first thought goes to "well, something must be bothering me." I then brainstorm on what could be bothering me. I then start worrying about everything in my life that isn't going perfectly. And it spirals out of control from there.
Last night, however, I was so frustrated and exhausted that I thought to myself, "Ya know, I don't have to be doing this alone." So, I started talking to God. It started out as, "I mean, seriously, why am I awake? I get cranky when I don't get enough sleep and that's no good for anybody." Then it dawned on me that maybe God is trying to tell me something. I then started talking to Him about things that I have been worried about. Then, it seemed like I started working through things. Things that I had been worried about for a while didn't seem so bad. It was the coolest feeling.
I have to tell you, talking through my problems and worries made me feel SO much better. It was almost like God was waking me up in hopes that I would chat with Him and work through things. I've been really slacking in my conversations with God lately, which is probably why I have so many worries. I'm thankful that He will slap me in the face sometimes (metaphorically speaking, of course) and do things like this to get my attention.
So, tonight if I wake up, I'm just going to consider it my date with God. It's nice to be able to tell him anything. And it's nice that He's always listening. That's so comforting to me.
Until then, though, you may want to steer clear of me until I get my sleeping schedule back! :)
